are all users getting the login request?
are you using POP?
do you get past it by putting in your network credentials or email address and email password?
I notice that you have another question relating to running 2 exchange servers and mail getting passed from one to another - could the authentication relate to your 2nd mail servere?

all users who are running outlook 2007 but not the outlook 2003.
this is occurring on the lan using MAPI and not pop.
just ignore the request for credentials and continue working

possibility the authentication is related to the second mail server is there since we were trying to install a trial SSL certificate on the second server but for OWA not for outlook on the lan.

Hold the Ctrl key and right click on Outlook icon on the right Hand side bottom corner (task bar-notification area) and click on "connection Status.."
you can see all the connection from outlook clients to servers - Domain Controllers & Exchange servers. Check the Req/Fail column to find for which server it fails. And start to troubleshoot from there.

This is quite common and is often caused by not having everything setup correctly.
The most common reason is not having the DNS or URLs set correctly and Outlook is trying to connect to a remote server.

The first thing I would suggest is test email autoconfiguration. Hold down CTRL while you right click on the Outlook icon and choose the option. Run the test and verify that all of the URLs resolve correctly, internally to the Exchange server.

An SSL certificate issue can cause this problem as well, although Outlook 2007 can cope with the certificate prompts, whereas Outlook 2003 cannot.

Also, have seen this issue resolved several times by de-joining the PC from the Domain.
