Dsik space in Novell Netware
I'm currently having trouble with the disk space which is being shown on one of the organisations Netware boxes as follows and was hopeing someone could shed some light on the problem.
I have 3 Partitions setup on the drive as follows:
1 - 7.81GB
2 - 68.36GB
3 - 24.55GB
Partition 1 has the volume SYS setup on it which is advertising the disk space useage and free space correctly.
Partition 3 is linked to Partition 1 (The reason for which I don't know as I did not setup the box) to give a Pool called QUEUES with 92.86GB allocated.
Within this pool there are 3 volumes called Apps, Queues and Data. These violumes adjust according to the free space on the server but currently they are being reported as full on the console screen. I have done a check on the volumes via windows and there is currently only 53.7GB of data on the volumes which should give around 39Gb of free space. Also the windows stats for the 3 volumes are showing as:
Data Size 91.8GB Free 15.9TB
Queues Size 18.5GB Free 16.6GB
Apps Size 17.8GB Free 17.8GB
The console monitor in netware is showing:
Data Size 93974MB 115% full
Queues Size 18889MB 10% full
Apps Size 18168MB 0% full
This seems to be showing the data volume with more space than is actually allocated and corrupting the figures.
Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction as to why this might be happening.
Thanks
Peter

What does the server report for useage if you run
NSS SPACE
at the server console?
NSSMU? What does it show?
Is there a large amount of purgeable space on the volumes?

Hi,
Responses to the above below.
Is compression enabled on any of these volumes?
No it is not.
Are you using the latest NetWare client software?
No it has not been authorised within the organisation to update. Currently 6.0 SP5.
What does the server report for useage if you run
NSS SPACE
at the server console?
Pool/Volume Tot Space Used Avail
Queues 92.86GB 92.86GB 0
APPS 92.86GB 51.58MB 0
Data 92.86GB 92.86GB 0
Queues 92.86GB 1.83GB 0
NSSMU? What does it show?
There is alot of data here but the main point is that all Volumes on the Queue pool are showing 17TB of free space and Apps/Data is showing 17TB of purgeable space. The same is being shown on the pool view.
Is there a large amount of purgeable space on the volumes?
See above.
Thanks
Peter

The lastest Novell client for Windows software is 4.91sp5. (right-click the red N in the system tray, and choose Novell Client Properties. The client version will be listed on the 1st tab) If the client isn't at the latest version, I'd suggest installing the latest version.
According to the server, there isn't any free space on your volumes (pool) at all. (reported in NSS space), but the client is showing something different when you view the properties of the volume from a workstation. This would be the reason to update the client.
Do you use the salvage feature often, or would it be possible for you to purge deleted files from your volumes, and see if that helps clear up some space?
If you have any other disks you can add to expand the pool, or some files that can be removed from the DATA volume, you can resolve the no disk space issue.
