recall a message not working

When my users attempt to recall a message, the recipient receives the recall email and it just sits in the reciepients inbox.   The message never gets recalled and the reciepient now has 2 emails from the sender: the original message and the recall email.

This can't be normal so what am I missing.

Hi,
This is normal, if the mail has been already read by the recipient.
No issue here
Thanks

yeap, agree to gupnit. this is normal (but i agree with you that this is some kind of bug or how MS calls it: it's a feature)
When the user kicks the message Recall, both will disappear and the sender gets the mail: successfully recalled message ...."
as i remember well, this had to do with either preview pane in outlook and / also when you're also using blackberry server...

The simple rule with message recall is expect it to fail. The requirements for it to work correctly are so complex that it makes the feature fail to work consistently.

The reciepient has not read the message.  I confirmed this with a test.   The mesage was unread and preview pane was not being used.   I have used this "feature" successfully in older versions like 2000.

Mestha - my boss is not going to buy "expect it to fail" unless I can produce some documentation.   What are the requirments for it to work correctly, just so I can intelligently explain to boss.

Hi,
Send a test mail to a user and before tbat user logs in, recall, it would work
Other scenarios - it was never efficient
Thanks
