I have used the Digi AnywhereUSB mentioned by nappy_d above on several occations and it works very well; and it's also working well when you use VMotion etc..<br />

You will need one such device per VM that requires USB. I have used it for such dongles too.<br />

i'm looking to add an application that need a db25 dongle as a licence key. &nbsp;Unfortunately, I dont have an db25 port on our server (dell PE2850) I only have 1 db9 port. The company offer me to exchange my db25 dongle for a usb one. Is there any way for me to let my VM knows about this usb dongle? &nbsp;Any other solution accepted!!!! <br />

USB dongle to VM machine

VMware, a software company founded in 1998,  was one of the first commercially successful companies to offer x86 virtualization. The storage company EMC purchased VMware in 1994. Dell Technologies acquired EMC in 2016. VMware’s parent company is now Dell Technologies.

VMware has many software products that run on desktops, Microsoft Windows, Linux, and macOS, which allows the virtualizing of the x86 architecture.  Its enterprise software hypervisor for servers, VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi), is a bare-metal hypervisor that runs directly on the server hardware and does not require an additional underlying operating system.
