Remote Desktop Connection Error

A number of users on our network experience an error whenever they try to remote desktop into a particular server at our data center, either from the office or from home (hence ruling out any strange firewall or networking issues). They receive an error message that states "You have 1 day left on your Remote Desktop licenses," or other error messages to the same effect.

The strange thing is they can remote desktop into other servers just fine, and after reimaging their computers, they can remote desktop into the server in question just fine. As a side note, our entire network is either laptops or desktops running Windows XP Professional SP or servers with Windows Server 2003 R2.

Any help would be appreciated, especially as we would rather not reimage our computers just to fix the remote desktop issue.

It sounds like the server in question cannot communicate with your terminal services licensing server.

Or perhaps locate the correct server.

Okay. What are some potential steps to correct communication between the server and terminal licensing server? Why does reimaging a laptop allow users to remote desktop into the server? This would seem to indicate that the server and terminal licensing server are communicating at some point?

You might need to recreate the license key.. this talks about vista but most likely has the same issue with XP..
