SQL Server Licensing/Local Replica Questions
I obviously do not know much about SQL Server, as is evident by these 2 questions:
1) If a company just has one SQL Server db on a server that is accessed by front end applications on 10 users' computers, would the company have to buy just 1 SQL Server license or 11 licenses?
2) This question is completely unrelated. Can users have local copies of a SQL Server db to use when a network connection is unavailable? I assume the users would just synchronize as they would with Access? How come I never hear about local copies with SQL Server? There are several times I can think of when a user might want to use an application without access to a network connection.
Thanks as always!!

It is easier to fix the network than maintain the sync of users databases to a central database. Assuming you are talking about a lan. And even for SQL replication, get the best WAN links you can.
