Excel files cannot connect to SQL server after transfer of SQL database to new hardware
Hi Experts,
I have just moved our SQL server and Database to a new server and all our excel files that have been created to query the server cannot find the new data source. I am unsure where I am meant to change this setting either within the individual excel siles or as a global setting. I have added the ODBC DSN connection on my machine to connect to the new SQL server.
Authentication mode is Windows
I am not sure where to look for 2 and 3. The server is activily working for CRM requests from another server, so the database is fine.

"Have you tested the ODBC DSN using the Test connection button in the ODBC control panel?"
Have you done this from the client machine where you seek to connect from MS-Excel?

I checked the remote connection section under SQL Surface area config tool and it is exactly the same as the old SQL server.
Hi have opened the excel file on the Domain Controller that I have tested the ODBC connection to be "OK" and I still have the same issue. The file originally tries to connect to the old SQL server and times out. I then change the server to the new on with the dialog box that comes up and and change the workstation ID to the Domain controller but still no joy...

I am not sure what you mean by editing the query. Can you eaplain in a little more detail.

Hi,
How are the excel files connecting to the server? Is it a macro? A database query?
