Just confiure yor web site to use NT integrated for authentication. When a valid domain accoun logon to Windows, and access the page, it will no prompt them as long as your permission is granted access for this domain user and NT integrated is confiugred on your web site.

Just curios, if your script gets the logged on user and grant access to web site or page, by individual account, won't that be high maintenance as web resources are usually grant access by groups. If by individual account, each time there's a changes, it could update sites and pages which could affect your differntial and incremental backup etc...may be I'm missing something here.

I want the Windows user name assigned to a PHP variable. &nbsp;I can then use an LDAP lookup to check group membership. &nbsp;Your first post does not give me the username. &nbsp;The link that you gave me in your second post does nothing in either Internet Explorer or Firefox.<br />

The script that you posted did nothing in either Internet Explorer or Firefox. &nbsp;I need to be able to assign the username, once it's found, to a PHP variable.<br />

I'm not opposed to an odd solution. &nbsp;I was even playing around with creating an entry in everyone's logon script tat would create a file on a server that would contain their username and would be named with their IP address. &nbsp;For instance, in my case, there would be a text file in a folder on my intranet server named 192.168.100.53.txt and the only contents of that file would be &quot;shtaffa&quot;. &nbsp;I could then use $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] to find the IP, read the text file and get the username. &nbsp;Unfortunately, I'm not very good with VB. &nbsp;I got the username in a file, but I could only get the file to be named with the first octet of the IP.<br />

Wild solutions are welcomed. &nbsp;Just keep in mind that they can't be browser specific and they must use only technologies that are available in a Server 2003 / Windows XP configuration. &nbsp;Please, no ASP.
