BSOD during install of Win XP

Hello, I am working on a Dell Dimension 4800 that was loaded with malware. After discovering a nasty virus (w32\virut) that I could not get rid of, I decided to do a format and fresh install.

Now, when installing from a Win XP CD, the progress will get until where there's about 30 minutes left (I think during the file copy that occurs after configuring the networking) and then BSOD with the following info:

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
STOP: 0x00000050 (0xc190254c, 0x00000000, 0xF73A3B24, 0x00000000)
Ntfs.sys - Address F73A3B24 base at F7377000

I have tried everything I can think of, short of replacing the mother board, including: trying to install to a different HD, swapping out the memory, removing the after market video card, turning off unnecessary integrated peripherals in the BIOS, and using a different install CD. All of these changes were followed by a fresh format and a reattempt at installing Win XP, but the results are consistent with the BSOD. Sometimes there is a different BSOD referring to win32k.sys.

I would provide the whole dump info, but I'm not sure how to get that since it's an incomplete install and the only thing I can do is get to it through the recovery console.

Has anyone experienced BSOD's during a Win XP install like this? Any suggestions?

Thanks.
