Why not use a WSUS server , this can then connect to Microsoft update and collect the updates for you. You can then create two (or more computer groups) and you can approve all the updates for the client group and then only approve the updates that you really want for the servers group.<br />

All of your machines can then be set to get their updates from your WSUS server and will only install the updates which you have approved for them.<br />

This is actually a terrible terrible idea unless you don't connect your server to the internet.<br />
<br />
Windows server updates are usually well tested and usually only critical security updates. Not applying them means you are vulnerable to vulnerabilities that have been patched, like the conficker worm.

Can anyone tell me if they think having the winodws updates disabled on servers is a good idea?<br />
All the updates are disabled at my company beacause they think updates to the servers might cuase issues, is this correct, if so can anyone recomend a way of applying only criticle updates.<br />
