SBS 2003 -- Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager -- Error 1706
Starting about 3 weeks ago, I get 15 to 20 of the following errors in the Server Performance Report every day. We haven't made any changes to Symantec on the server since November 2008, so I can't think of any reason for this error. Suggestions ?
MsiInstaller Event ID 11706
Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager -- Error 1706: No valid source could be found for product Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager. The Windows Installer cannot continue.

Okay --- it looked like the "cleanup" was actually complete, but the cmd window never closed.
So I closed it and tried the "-update". The update was looking for some files that were in the original downloaded zip files for SEP (but the extracted files had been deleted from the disk for space reasons)... I unzipped the SEP CD1 contents again and allowed the "-update" to continue. It appears to have completed successfully, and I am no longer getting the above 2 errors every 5 minutes. After tomorrow, if the 15-20 "1706" errors a day go away, I'll be glad to accept this as a solution....

Hopefully you will not get that error because you re-registered the LiveUpdate components. This usually fixes the error message you originally received.

This eliminated the "1706" errors. Thanks!

How long should the "cleanup" be allowed to run before I kill it ?
