GMail (GoogleMail) Blank Screen

A friend of mine cannot access her GoogleMail (GMail) account on one of her two laptops.

She has two laptops, one Vista and one XP Pro; both connected wirelessly to her Draytek Vigor 2820n (brand new) router.  Both laptops can connect to the router with excellent signals.  Both can access the internet with very fast responses on any website we choose.

The Vista laptop can access her GMail account reliably but the XP Pro machine cannot.  All she gets is a blank white screen.  The problem is browser independent and it fails using Firefox 3 and IE7.  I have also removed all browser add-ins and extensions.  I have done comprehensive AV and spyware sweeps using AVG and SpyBot.  We have cleared all the temporary internet folders, removed all the cookies and flushed the cache - all using CCleaner.  We have tried https and http with no improvement.  We use the regular Windows firewall on both and have tried accessing GMail on the problem laptop with the firewall turned off - again with no improvement.  Both laptops are set up with plain vanilla DHCP to get their IP addresses and DNS servers automatically.

The interesting issue is that when I bring the XP Pro laptop to my place, logon to my11n router and, obviously, use my ISP, Gmail works perfectly every single time on both Firefox and IE7.

Hello pcpilot,

Try alternate login address

http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=1  <- this takes you to older version
or
http://mail.google.com/mail/h/ <- this takes you to HTML view

Hope this helps!

Changing the login addresses did nothing, I am afraid.

I figured that, since the XP laptop worked with my router and not with hers, it must be the router - notwithstanding the fact that her Vista laptop worked with her router.

So, I reset the router to the factory default and reconfigured it completely.

The problem went away!

Thanks for trying to help.................
pcpilot, glad the problem is fixed. Humm, wonder why her router was blocking Goggle mail?
