Hi,

Please visit the following link:

Enterprise Console: configuring message relay computers:

http://www.sophos.com/support/knowledgebase/article/14635.html

Information: The file mrinit.conf contains the router configuration information. you would have to edit for ParentRouterAddress.

Let me know the update.

Regards,

Vishnu.

I was just looking into this same issue and contacted Sophos support regarding it. In my case the "parent router" it was looking for was 192.168.1.5 which was an old IP address and we recently changed our whole IP addressing on the network to 192.168.5.X. Sophos will need to be reinstalled to correct the issue on the client end.

If you are using Sophos Control Center you will want to change the ParentAddress item in MRInit.conf here:
C:\Program Files\Sophos\SCC\Library\
C:\Program Files\Sophos\SCC\Library\SAVSCFXP

Then in SCC you can go to TOOLS | REPROTECT COMPUTERS... and Sophos will initiate a reinstall on the selected clients and apply the new configuration information you changed in MRInit.conf.

If you want to check the current "Parent Router" on a client check the ParrentAddress key in the following location of the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sophos\Messaging System\Router\
cheers thats a big help will give it ago.
is the parent router the server ip address of where Sophos is actually installed?
If you are using Sophos Control Center yes. Basically it is looking for the update server.
