IBM Thinkpad Error Beep Code 3-1-4-3
I am working on an IBM Thinkpad T43 type 2687, that froze up yesterday during routine work and now will not boot.  Just beep error codes 3-1-4-3.  I have looked all over the net for this code and nothing is listed however others have had the same pattern. I removed the memory module in the back and still get the same beep code.  Not that it matters but running Windows XP Pro SP3.

No, I can not get into Bios or anywhere else.  Just the beep codes.  Strange that others are getting the same beep codes yet there is nothing anywhere regarding their meaning.  Oh well, thanks for the effort.

If you can't get into the BIOS, it is most likely the motherboard. A memory-only error would give you an identifiable beep code, but you don't have that. Less so for the T43 than the T41 and T42 before it, T4x machines were susceptible to bad joints/surface cracks/cold solder joints in their motherboards. ..... Thinkpads_user

A laptop or notebook is a portable personal computer with a clamshell form factor, suitable for mobile use. Although originally there was a distinction between laptops and notebooks, the former being bigger and heavier than the latter, there is often no longer any difference. Laptops are commonly used in a variety of settings, such as at work, in education, and for personal multimedia. A laptop combines the components, inputs, outputs and capabilities of a desktop computer, including the display screen, speakers, a keyboard, and pointing devices (such as a touchpad or trackpad) into a single unit. The device can be powered either from a rechargeable battery or by mains electricity from an AC adapter.
