Symantec Endpoint Protection not function well on Vista
I just upgraded my anti-virus software to SEP 11.0 (Unmanaged), which running on Vista Home Premier system. I also installed LiveUpdate 3.3. The problem is 1) New definition never get updated; 2) The Live Update button is disabled (It says "Your Administrator has locked this feature"). Even I manually run Luall.exe from command line, it get all up-to-date information (by Live Update Screen) but still not to get new definitions.
I have already uninstall/reinstall SEP and LievUpdate couple of times, no use.

1] Since I installed unmanaged client, I follow the instruction of that link. Unfortunately, when I get to the update schedule settings, all the check boxes are disabled and I can not do anything.
2] run with luall -s did not create anything. run luall did work and tell me all stuff are up-to-date, but Virus definition is still old.
I believe my Vista settings some how block these stuff, but my older SAV version works.

Hi,
First please see the below link which states SEP 11. 0 is compatable with Windows vista:
https://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/Details.aspx?type=Software&p=Symantec%20Endpoint%20Protection&v=Symantec&uid=11&pf=0&pi=3&c=Utilities&sc=Security&os=32-bit
Troubleshooting to be performed:
Could you check if the Firewall on the vista machine is turned on, as a test you may turn it off and then after recycling the services pertaining to Symantec Endpoint Protection and then relaunch and check the status.
If the problem persists then I would suggest you do a clean uninstall of SEP 11.0 once again by following the instructions below , I know you have already uninstalled it couple of time may be some traces are causing issue it happens some time to avoid it one last time.

Finally, it would be also good to check with Symantec tech support on this regards.

This problem is finally solved by installing another version of SEP 11.0 client. The one I used is a simplified version which somehow not including automatically update (no one knows that before until I install it to a brand new XP PC with the same problem). I reinstall SEP 11.0 from its original CD and everything works.
Sincerely thanks for all advises given by you guys.

Could you check the following:
1] Under Advanced Settings in the LiveUpdate policy you should check "Allow users to manually launch LiveUpdate".
2] Try to run with luall -s which will do it silently.
