Cannot open attachment in Lotus Notes
We use Lotus Notes on the desktop with a Domino v6.5.6 server for email.
One of my users received an email with an Excel attachment that had been forwarded to her. The sender in turn had had it forwarded to him. It passed through several hands before it arrived at my user.
When my user tries to open the attachment by double-clicking on it, instead of getting the Attachment Actions window to select View, Open, etc. she sees a rectangular box around the attachment icon and name but doesnt get the Attachment Actions window. The only thing that appears to happen is that the New Memo, Reply, Reply To All, Forward, Delete, Folder, Copy Into New buttons disappear and new buttons Save and Close and Save and File appear. There seems to be no way to open or view the file or save it.
There are no error messages or any other clues (that I have noticed).
Does anyone know what is happening here?

The file is no longer there... somewhere in between those hands the file was removed from message and only icon left... sometime it could be caused by Symantec AV

Wouldn't there be evidence that the attachment was stripped out? I have seen cases where in place of the attachment was a tag that said such-and-such attachment has been removed.

I cleared the TEMP folder on the PC where I am trying to open the attachment but that didn't fix the problem. Are you referring to one of the PCs that forwarded the message along the way?
it would be on the sending computer but since the $FILE field is not 0 that may not be the issue

We haven't really solved the problem as we still don't know why this is happening. So far it has only happened twice. If it happens again we will try to track down the cause.
