For some reason, I cannot record from the speaker.... I have Windows XP and people say it will work on XP, but not Vista. However, I just can't seem to record from the speaker as it generates something like WaveoutGetSelectControl() failed...and if I go into detail and do the manual search for Audio Options for Speaker... it says.. it cannot detect recording line for speaker....
i have the same error -

Recording Audio from Speakers
(From the main menu, choose Options->Record audio from speakers)
By selecting this option, CamStudio will record the output from your speakers while it is capturing video. This is ideal for recording a gaming session or a movie stream. You will need a sound card with speakers attached to use this option.
Please note that not all soundcards support this function. (Most modern and branded soundcards usually allows you to record from your speakers

Ok, since this explaination didn't help me at all and I figured it out...I thought I would share.
Right click on your sound icon next to the clock on the taskbar and hit open volume control. Then click on options/properties in the new window. Now you should see Mixer Device and you want to select your INPUT from the drop down. The radio button next to recording should now show as marked.
Under Show the following volume controls:
put a mark next to Stereo Mix and hit ok.
By default, my Stereo Mix was muted and I couldn't record both my mic and my speakers on my Camstudio. I unchecked Mute button under Stereo Mix and now it all works.
Hope this helps someone! Took me over an hour to figure it out.
