Cisco 1841 sharing internet traffic ???

hi Gurus,

I have 2 Mpbs Internet line (v35) to my Cisco 1841 and it's has two interfaces. I need to have two networks for each interface and share the internet bandwidth 1 Mbps for each interface.

What is the best possible routing algorithm to do this ?? and what are the pros and cons on this ??

Thanks in advanced !

thanks for your time,

actually this is sharing the Internet connectivity between two parties, each party will have no interconnections. the two parties will be allocating two different public IP blocks for each.

what is the best scenario for this ? and what are the disadvantages ?

thanks again !

Hi network_ven,

1) By two interfaces, you are saying that you have two ethernet interfaces?
my 1841 already has two interfaces
2) Each ethernet interface will have two networks? YES !
Please elaborate. Public or private IP? two network gets two Public IPs blocks per each
3) Your provider is routing two public IP address blocks to the 1841?
Yes I guess so, they are normal Internet Leased Lines providers, I get connection from DSU via V35
4) Party1 should not be able to talk to Party2 directly.
NO at any cost ! high security needed.

Do you want to rate-limit the traffic to 1mbps per party, or do you want to shape the traffic to 1mbps per party?

There are some ways that I expecting;

1. Share the line maximum bandwidth as 1Mbps for each party, in this scenario both parties can not exceed traffic more than 1Mbps.
2. Share the line as 1Mbps for each and let's say, if party A has allocated full traffic (1Mbps) and B party having low bandwidth usage in that time duration, Party A can get go more than 1Mbps. likewise both parties should be able to obtain the benefit of free bandwidth in 2Mbps pipe.

Please let me know if you are not clear on this ??

And thanks a lot for your time !
This is the best money I have ever spent. I cannot not tell you how many times these folks have saved my bacon. I learn so much from the contributors.

"Lastly, you can create an outbound service policy on the Serial interface and limit each party to 1Mbps when congestion exists on the circuit"

Will this benefit 2Mbps line for both of parties ?

JFrederick29: I'm struggling to find a way of sharing one party's idle bandwidth to the other party as both benefit of 2Mbps bandwidth.

Hope you can understand the idea in side my mind !

Thanks for your time !
