Unprotect header in MIcrosot Office Word 2007

I was given a document (created in Word) that apparently was created by a former associate.  The logo in the header has apparently been protected and we need to update.  Is there an easy way to unprotect so that changes can be made or do we need to recreate the document?  The information in the footer was not protected.

Thanks.

Is the file password protected or just protected?  The header is protected by default when protection is enabled.  To unprotect, try clicking on Protect Document from the Developer tab, and select Restrict Formatting and Editing.  If it's protected you should see a Stop Protection option at the bottom of the help window that "should" pop up on the right side.  Click this and change the Editing Restrictions.

The file isn't pass protected but the object is.  When I hit "stop protection" it requests a password.  That I do not have.  Are there any options other than recreating?   Thank you.

Thanks for your help.  It's probably better for me to recreate.  I thought I'd try and figure out a way since it's not the first time I've encountered a similar situation.  The key here is to make sure people note passwords or make available to other users.
