Event ID: MAPI session exceeded maxiumum of 32 sessions

Hi All

Every now and then, one of our users (a random user) cannot use their Outlook to connect to Exchange.

There is always a correspinding entry in the Event Log of their Exchange server - EventID 9646.

"Mapi session "/o=xx/ou=xx/cn=Recipients/cn=user1" exceeded the maximum of 32 objects of type "session"."

I have searched on MS KB's etc, which state that this may be down to an application opening MAPI threads on their behalf, which can't be the answer in our case.

Has anyone experience this? Usually, everything is fine after 10 minutes, but I was just wondering.

Thx
Exchange

Hi Guys

I checked out ESM > Logons and, sure enough, the user has about 30 odd sessions open.

The user closed Outlook and the sessions disappeared. So - it points to an Outlook issue - what would be the recommended fix? Rebuild the profile, re-install Outlook?

Cheers
