restore WindowsImageBackup to xp Professional

My machine crashed, but I have a backup that was done the day before in WindowsImageBackup that is a complete backup on an external drive.  I want to restore all of the files to an xp Professional system.  Is there software to restore it, or can I expand the twenty zip files that it created to recreate my system?  If I do expand these files will it recreate my system so I can pull off important files?
Thanks for your assistance

You should be able to use the Windows backup program and do the restore. Go to Advanced and there will be a button for you to restore all your files back.

what software am I to use?  There isn't a restore program on this machine.
I found the backup and restore wizard and started that.  When I pathed out to the location, this software wants a .bkf formated file and these are all zipped files.  Do I unzip all twenty files?
If you made a complete backup using the Backup program in XP, I think it creates a VHD file. You will probably need to reinstall Windows first. Not sure if it's possible to restore a VHD file without a working Windows partition.
Guess we posted around the same time...

Try changing the file type to All Files and look for the first zip file to see if that will restore all 20 of them for you in a chain.
I just selected all files and when I selected the first zip file, it asked me to catalog this.  I responded yes and I received a messaged that it contained unrecognized data and cannot be used.  Can I unzip all of these files manually and see if it will recreate my data?

It would not work properly, but I could get the stored procedures that I had stored as text files.
