Can I save 'versions' of a MS Virtual PC 2007 in another folder on my hard drive

Can I save 'versions' of a MS Virtual PC 2007 in another folder on my hard drive as a backup. Once I'm done with the 'live' version of the VM then copy the back file set back into the location of the 'live' VM.

My problem is that when I restore the backup file set I have to contact my network administrators to put the VM back on the Active Directory network (Domain is unavailable when I try to Logon).

Is this not possible or are we doing something wrong?

And yes I know we could be using VMWare ;)
