Auto Reply in Exchange 2007 / Outlook 2003

Hi all,

I am attempting to create a rule that will allow the server to send an auto-reply to anyone who send an email to my email account. I went to the Rules wizard, started a blank rule, check msgs as they arrive, look for emails sent to me, and have server reply using a template, which I have created. However, when I've tested this out I don't get the auto reply. I need the auto reply to go out even when I don't have Outlook open, hence the server side rule. Does anyone know why those settings didn't work?

Thank you very much in advance!

easiest way is to turn on the 'out of office' reply on and use the template with it

Although originally for 2002, this works on my 2007.

If you want to send auto-replies to external domains, you should enable it on server

ccpic:  Is there a way to edit the Out of Office template? I don't want it to say Out of Office in the subject line.

darkstar3d: I have already tried that.

kmrzljak: I tried typing that command into the Exchange management shell but it will not accept the command. Should I type it somewhere else instead?

Thanks much!

hello,

any updates?

Thanks

Why the command isn't accepted? Any errors logged? Have you tried doing it via Exchange management console?

You can change OOF template. In OOF Assistant go to Add Rule and check Replay with template. You could have problems with that so look at http://office-outlook.com/outlook-forum/index.php?t=msg&th=96746/ , worked for me.

I tried the command again, it gives a warning message saying that the command ran successfully but no settings of the user account has been modified.

The auto reply rule still does not work.

I have attempted the Add Rule and Reply with template. Doesn't work.

Looked at the link and the steps don't correspond with what I see on screen. For example if I go into Out of Office I don't see the Tools > Forms > Design a Form. I can do that if I'm not within OOF (step1) but the font area is grayed out so I can't change it to rich text.

Can it be something on the Exchange server blocking these custom auto reply messages? If so, what are some other places on the server I should look at to resolve this issue?

Thanks much!
