Time change on Windows XP machines to Dec 31, 2069

We have had numerous PCs have their time change to Dec 31, 2069 mysteriously, and then will not login.  We thought it was a time problem with our windows Active Directory domain controllers, but that time was correct.

I have searched the internet and all known virus-related sites searching for a virus or something with no luck.  Can someone help out?  Has anyone seen this before?

The screen will start at CTL-ALT-DELETE, then you press CTL-ALT-DELETE to put in your credentials, and the PC sits there and eventually throws you back to the CTL-ALT-DELETE.  The PCs are current with their McAfee Virusscan software...

Any assistance is greatly appreciated...

zbatia and wartutle nailed it, however suggesting to run an on-line scanner on a PC that you can't login to isn't really workable, but you are right, it was a version of Conficker.  Had to get an ULTIMATE CD, log on to pc using it, and then edit the registry and replace a couple of boot-up files in order to fix the machines.  Nasty for sure.

Thanks to all...
Good to see that Conficker is gone now... sorry, I should have been more specific, the suggestion was actually to take the hard drive out and connect to another computer as an external USB via a caddy and then scan online. But all is well that ends well!
