Unfortunately, the 'delete' &nbsp;command doesn't exist in 6.x 
To free up space on the flash card, you need to wipe the entire flash. 
I would suggest making a backup of everything first, by using tftp &nbsp;to copy all the files off the PIX for safe keeping. 
 
Then issue a write erase 
 
or suitable 'flashfs' commands. 
 
Use &nbsp;'show flashfs' to show flash filesystem details sector sizes, and most importantly, flash filesystem version. 
 
If version is not 5.1, you may wish to change filesystem version. 
 
'flashfs downgrade 5.1' , 5.0, or 4.x &nbsp;would wipe flash, and set up the filesystem structures for the corresponding version 
 
'clear flashfs' &nbsp;reverts to 4.x, &nbsp;I believe. 
 
 
It is generally preferred to use the 5.0 or 5.1 &nbsp;flash filesystem, &nbsp;but if you want to run a very old version of the PIX software, &nbsp;like &nbsp;PIX version 5, &nbsp;or PIX version 4, then the older filesystem is required

*That is to say, newest version of flash filesystem you can use with your software version is usually best.. &nbsp; I say 5.1, &nbsp;just b/c &nbsp;I know it is available in 6.0, &nbsp; &nbsp; when newer versions are available, you may pick them, &nbsp;with the caveat, &nbsp;that it can be a mess to change later. 
 
Whatever is most convenient, for your setup.

Try your 'write erase', to wipe out the flash, &nbsp;then load your PIX OS image and config back on the device, and set it to boot from the image. 
 
Reboot the device, &nbsp;'write mem', &nbsp; and see if the flash version is still 3.x. 
 
If the software is working properly, &nbsp;the flashfs version will normally be updated after successfully booting the image...

I upgraded my PIX 515E ver 6.3(4) to Ver 7.2(1) then the PIX keeps on booting in a loop. 
I hit ESC to get to Monitor mode to reload ver 6.3(4): 
monitor&gt; address 192.168.1.1

monitor&gt; ping 192.168.1.2 
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5) 
monitor&gt; file pix634.bin

Then it asks for Activation key:
