Where can I download drivers for my Dazzle DVC for Windows XP Pro?

Anyone know where I can get the drivers for Dazzle Digital Video Creator,  product DVC-USB, for Windows XP SP3?  The installtion CD I have, P/N 77-010-1043, is not for Windows XP.
Thank you.

Hi bobbat,

Now, I'm not 100% sure, as I do not have a DVC-USB myself, but from my understanding, the drivers are 'boxed' with a few other of Pinnacle's (+Dazzle) USB product drivers.. and I managed to find some below.

On the Pinnacle website, it says::
"For the Dazzle DVC 80, DVC 150 and Fusion, these drivers are specifically designed work with Pinnacle''s Studio and Studio QuickStart software and they are not intended to work with other video editing applications and have not been tested with other applications."

Do you have Pinnacle Studio?

Hope this helps!

I thought drivers were for hardware?  I can run the software--I can't get the computer to recognize the hardware.

The installation CD I have is copyrighted in 2000 and has the following software:
 - Dazzle MovieStar 4.21 for Digital Video Creator
 - Sonic Desktop SmartSound
 - Windows Media Player 7
 - Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5
 - RealPlayer 8 Basic
 - Sonic Solutions MyDVD
drivers ARE for hardware, you're right... but they are software instructions for your computer on how to deal with the hardware, and they are usually included with the bundled software.

did you try installing the first link i gave you?

another option you have is if that doesn't work, to uninstall the hardware from the computer via the Device Manager (right click My Computer, Properties, Hardware) by selecting the DVC from the list, right clicking and click uninstall.. then restart the computer, and on hardware detection, select the option to download drivers from Microsoft Update.

let me know what happens,

I have not tried your first link yet since the Pinnacle tech said all files to support my hardware was removed from their site years ago.  The tech did say that the hardware did work with Windows XP.

I did uninstall and let MS Windows/Update try to find the drivers but it could not find the ones for my specific hardware either.  The drivers are out there somewhere but where?  There are some programs for purchase that check you hardware and then see if it has the most current driver.  Think those are worth the money?

Hi bobbat,

It really annoys me to hear about the discontinue of driver support from Pinnacle's behalf. It is acceptable and expected for companies to stop providing support and updates for hardware and software after an extended period of time - this is normal, so they can focus on newer projects - however, they should still supply the latest driver versions either on their website or in an archive somewhere.

Anyhow, the 'driver scanner' software you mentioned I feel would be quite a gamble on your behalf. Is the company reputable? what would happen if you could not find the driver you were looking for? would they offer you a refund? The thing is, if those drivers are detectable by these programs, then they are bound to be out there in the depths of the internet somewhere.

I happen to have a friend who is an absolute wizard at finding these sorts of things, I will contact him and hopefully (it is the weekend here) get an answer within a day.
In the interim, I suggest you search the torrent search websites - this friend whom I just mentioned managed to find a CD Image of a install disk I needed for my soundcard on Demonoid - while Creative continue to provide updated drivers for my now aging soundcard, they do not provide the original programs that come with the install disk.

I will get back to you shortly.

Hi Bobbat,

I've just had another couple of thoughts.
firstly, is there another model number on the actual device? 80? 120? 150 or the word 'Fusion?' If so, I have found a driver install that should be compatible.

Secondly (may very well work)
I am gathering that the install disk that you have is for Windows 98 or earlier?
If you were to place your install disk in your computer, does it automatically come up with an installer telling you that Your version of Windows in not compatible?
If so.. here's what you do.
  1. Open My Computer, Right Click on your CD Drive with the install disk in, and click open.
  2. Find the Setup Installer. Usually 'setup.exe' or 'install.exe' or' ___.msi'.
  3. Right Click on the installer, and select 'Properties'
  4. In the properties menu, there is a tab up the top labelled 'Compatibility'
  5. In the Compatibility tab, check the box Run this program in compatibility mode for' and select Windows 98. (sometimes listed as Windows 98 / ME). Click Apply Button.
  6. Double click on the Installer file to run.
If this works, It will tell you (a few times) that the driver is not signed for Windows XP.
However, the Pinnacle Support rep that you spoke to, told you that it was compatible with XP, so you can go ahead and continue with the installation.
If this doesn't work, let me know and I will figure out something else.

Thank you for all your help but I just don't have the time so I just went out and bought a new Dazzle.  I had to get our stall cameras on the Internet so others could help us monitor the mare and call us when she started giving birth.  One down, one mare to go.  You can see for yourself at: http://www.marestare.com/cam.php?alias=beautyshaven for live video.  The rest of the story is at: http://www.beautysequinerescue.org/.  Again, thanks for all your time and trouble.  I will award you all the points on my next post.
