Cisco Call Manager Call Timeout Delay

Call Manager Version 4.1, my calls are taking 15-20 seconds once the last digit is pressed to start the actual "call" - I can see that the call is not being sent to the core voice router from the call managers for this period of time also. I have checked the timeout delays and these have been set to 10000 (10 seconds once the last digit it pressed in service parametres).

Does anyone have any idea's on a solution here?
Thanks

You can send the string immediately by pressing #

Anytime you have a number that matches multiple call patterns your going to get a delay. If you feel you have a problem that is outside of that realm sometimes the Call Manager service can get messed up and need to be restarted or possibly just restarting the call manager itself if you have a maintanance window.

Understandably pressing # will force the call out after the last digit has been pressed however I just don't see this as being a feasible option. The 15-20 seconds delay from the Call Manager passing the call to the router seems excessive, I will try the reboot tonight.

It's sounds like the inter-digit timeout is being involked because there has not been an explicit match to a dial peer or route pattern.  In other words, let's say you have a pattern that matches 9.XXXXXXX for 7 digit dialing, but you also have a pattern that matches 9.XXXXXXXXXX for 10 digit dialing.  If someone dials 9 and 7 digits, the system will wait the duration of the interdigit timer for additional digits.  To avoid this scenario, you should only have a 9.1XXXXXXXXXX for long distance, 9.XXXXXXX for 7 digit dialing and 9.<YYY>XXXXXXX where YYY is equal to any locally dialable 10 digit numbers.

Can you post your diaplan?

When did the problem start? Was it after you changed the dial plan or did it just start happening.
As my post said anytime you have an ambiguos dial string were it is possible to have multiple matches then yes you get a delay. Yes please post your dial plan that may help.

All phones are in the group "P-Internal" to which the only route pattern defined is "0!" this would explain why it is taking so long for an outbound call. Also do note that restarting the cluster has decreased the time by ~5seconds.

OK, further more to call patterns do you foresee this causing problems on a live system? Also assuming that generally speaking all changes should be made on the Publisher?

I have attached one of my newly created route patterns for mobiles but calls to mobiles are still taking ~10 seconds (the set interdigit timeout value) rather than matching the route pattern and automatically passing the call to the gateway. Is there any reason why this might be?

One more thing... if you have multiple patterns that begin the same way, you will still have this problem with the shorter of the two patterns.

For Example:

0.04XXXXXXX
0.04XXXXXXXX

This won't work for the first pattern because it is technically a match to both of these.  As a result, the system will wait 10 seconds to see if you enter another digit to match the second pattern.  The only way to get around this is to establish unique patterns.

For Example:

0.041XXXX
0.042XXXXXX

Hope that helps.

This was described perfectly. Now I just have to go away and plan my dial peers. Thanks
Routers
Routers

A router is a networking device that forwards data packets between computer networks. Routers perform the "traffic directing" functions on the Internet. The most familiar type of routers are home and small office cable or DSL routers that simply pass data, such as web pages, email, IM, and videos between computers and the Internet. More sophisticated routers, such as enterprise routers, connect large business or ISP networks up to the powerful core routers that forward data at high speed along the optical fiber lines of the Internet backbone. Though routers are typically dedicated hardware devices, use of software-based routers has grown increasingly common.
