Try the How do I video that I sent you. It's a fast way to get it done. It help me a lot I the best thing is that you learn faster than just reading because you can go doing your project with the video and that way you understand it faster.

I have watched the video and can understand how to implement locale specific content which is created  and stored within resx files.

What I was really looking for (I could be in cuckoo land) was an automated means of translating English to Japanese 'on the fly' rather than supplying 2 version of the content.

If this type of automated translation isn't available or reliable then 2 versions with asp.net locale it will have to be.

Thanks both for your time so far.. I have learnt quite a bit regarding this subject. But if anyone could advise on an automated route that would be great.

I really don't think that there is an easier way to do what you want but with Localization. You would need something like a translator type of class for ASP.NET which I think don't existe and after translating build the webpage on the fly, which is another pain. But anyway I'll be on the lookout for a solution like that for you.

I think to be honest that your theory using the localization to toggle between laguages with a data store containing both versions is probably the most reliable method.
