Printing off Outlook Express Gets HTML along with message
Windows XP SP3 and Internet Explorer 7 printing to HP inkjet printer on a Dell Dimension 2350. When my customer tries to print an email from Outlook Express she not only gets the message but HTML prints out also. For instance I'm looking at an email that begins: <! doctype HTML public..... and ends with </Body> </HTML>
This happens when printing from IE also. Printing from Word or other applications prints normally.

Solution:
To work around this problem, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Windows Explorer.
2. On the View menu, click Folder Options, and then click the File Types tab.
3. In the Registered File Types box, click each file type one at a time, and then view the file extension under "File type details."
4. If the file extension is TMP, click Remove, and then click OK.
I have to go over to my client's home to test this. The microsoft article refers to older versions of IE and Outlook Express. Hopefully it applies to the newest versions too.

No luck. KB175322 was an IE 4.0 problem and this is IE7. But I found another site that may have encountered the same problem: http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1468333&page=6
That was resolved by explicitely making IE the default browser.
I have to go back and try it on my customers machine.

That did it. The resolution was going to "Set Program Access and Defaults" and making IE the default browser instead of 'use my current web browser'. I also made Outlook Express the default email program.
The tip up there mentioned AOL and AOL had been installed in this case too.
Thanks comeran, your tip led me to searching and finding what finally resolved the problem.
Thanks,
Al
