cannot start services on Server 2003 r2

Hi All

everything was working fine untill i rebooted the server
when it botted up before the login screen appeared a warning saying
** some services could not start ****
when i logged in i when to check event viewer but when i try to click on it it wont let me see any events.

then i went to services.msc

Extended tab is completly blank
standart tab list all the services fine

most the services are not running and when i try to manually start them i get an error
** 1068 The dependency service or group failed to start **
also properties window wont apperar when clicked

Network connections folder is empty
device manager shows network cards fine

any first ideas on whats going on?

Many thanks

To me it sounds like one service might have failed and then caused a cascading effect taking out all of the dependent services on the machine. Its hard to tell which one it may be though.

If you look in services.msc are all the services that are set to automatic started?
