missing fonts in cs4

Hello Experts

I have installed CS4 on my PC and I am having some font missings from the applictation.
Although the font name like "Arial Black" already exist on the PC but its not finding it. When I open an existing file I am getting an error message saying few fonts are missing and then a find a font box coming up with missing font names marked with yellow !.

I dont know how to add these fonts back into the CS4.

Please can you advise how to do this?

Thanks

I'm guessing that you have not received an answer because this one is a bit of a stumper. You don't say if you are on a Mac or a PC. (Mac's have reported problems seeing some TTY fonts)
The first thing to try is going to your Photoshop preferences settings under the "Type" settings and unclick "Missing Glyph Protection". This might be all that you need.

If not, report back and we'll dig deeper.
If you are on windows, do a global search for the file "adobefnt*.LST"

Delete all of them that you find.

This is a short cut that adobe uses to keep track of your fonts. Now that the files are missing, Adobe will do a systemwide search for fonts and rebuild the lists.

This has been known to make missing fonts reappear.
Hi D_Brugge,
Thanks for picking this up for me.
Yes I am on Windows XP. I will try your suggestion tomorrow and get back to you on this.
Many Thanks

Hi D_Brugge,

I am sorry for not getting back to you any sooner on this.

I have tried to do a global search for the file  "adobefnt*.LST" and have found about 21 files on the PC.

Please can you advise if I have to delete all of them?

Please see the attached.

Thanks
S

Hi Newbie!

Yes, you want to delete them all. That is an example of the problem. Adobe doesn't like to keep type files the windows type folder like "normal" applications. It likes to spread them out with each application, then make likes between these applications sharing files with other adobe programs, but keeping none adobe programs from seeing the files.

The .lst files are the internal lists that the programs make that keeps track of where the font files are located. The plan is to delete these lists, and according to Adobe, each program will then generate a new list with updated information.

At least that's the plan....

I'm sorry New, that's as far as my knowledge takes me. As loyal as I am to Experts-Exchange, their depth in things Adobe is somewhat limited.

I suggest that you  go to Adobe Forums (http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa) and post your question along with your screen grab and what you have tried)

In the past I have not have much faith in Adobe forums. However it seems that they have picked up some techniques from experts exchange lately and have vastly improved their ability to come up with quality answers.

If you get a satisfactory answer, please post it here so that we will all learn and so that you can help someone in the future with the same problem. When you do so, click on your response as the accepted answer and that will then refund all of your points as well.

Sorry that we couldn't do better.
ok thanks for your help anyway.

i have posted my question on the link you have provided...

have heard a response but that does not seems to have helped ..... i will keep you posted...

thanks
