Pix501 with verizon DSL?

Can you use a pix 501 or 506e with verizon DSL?  Wanting to setup an l2tp IPSEC vpn with my friend. He has regular Verizon (not the business line). Thoughts?

Yes, as long as you have a DSL modem/bridge in front of the PIX that takes in the DSL and hands off Ethernet to the PIX.

this guy has a westell 6100 device. I think it has a built in firewall. Is this going to be an issue if it sits in front of the Pix?

I would have him setup a 1-1 static NAT on the Westell for the PIX and allow all IP to the PIX outside.  You won't have any issues if setup this way.  If the Westell can't do that, port forwarding UDP 500 and UDP 4500 to the Pix outside and enabling NAT-Traversal on the PIX should work also.

Cool, I just realized that the Westell can be put in "bridge" mode. I'm going to do that
thanks
