vsftpd crashes server

I have a Fedora Core 9 running on a VMWare Xenserver - almost everything is running just fine, but vsftpd is acting up BIGTIME..

I install vsftpd 2.0.6 via yum and I use the bog std. config file on it.
The I try to start it with the following command

/sbin/service vsftpd

And then the server hangs.. I do not get any messages in var/log/messages and i do not get any vsftpd logs. There is nothing else hooking prot 21. iptables are setup to allow ingoing port 21 and outgoing if source is 21.

I really need help with this one :/

ftp ports are 20 & 21. Did you change any thing in the vsftp config file?
Hi,

What is the output of telnet to port 21?

#telnet localhost 21

Also allow port 20 and 21 in iptables. As the port 21 is used for clocking and port 20 is used for data. One suggestion to check Iptables related problem is to temporarily shutdown iptables.
