Hello WizardWil,

thanks again for the links, i have been told that i would not need have sftp setup on my server ....

i will be only downloading and uploading the files on the client sftp server...

all i would need now is to setup sftp server locally either on my XP machine to test the .net code to upload and download the file ....

or i can use win 2003 server on the network for the testing....

please can you advise if you know how to set this up locally?

thanks for your help and time

regards
