QTJAVA variable in Set command

I have a QTJAVA variable set to C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\lib\ext\QTJAVA.ZIP.  I do not know how or why that variable got set.

That environment variable was created when you installed Quicktime. Apple includes as part of Quicktime, Quicktime for Java (QTJava). This is library that adds additional media capability to the Java Programming Language. Any programs you have that are written in Java that display videos or sound may be using QTJAVA. This environment variable tells Java programs where to find the QTJAVA files needed. However, Java programs are rather rare so you should be able to remove this environment variable without any problem.
