I am trying to embed multiple fonts into a Flash CS4 (ActionScript 3) document but I am not sure how to go about it. I want to give the user the ability to type in some text and then render it in some pre-designated fonts. I have it working to change the text according to what the user types in, but I can't figure out how to embed multiple fonts.

I'm sure there's a more elegant solution that this, but this would work.

OFFstage create a new text field and make it 'dynamic' type a character of two into it, and go to 'embedding' and choose what glyphs (character symbols) you want to be embedded. Careful with the filesize if you choose 'all characters' - some typefaces will increase your filesize a lot because they contain character sets for many languages, and you may not need them.

Create another textfield offstage and repeat the above steps. Do this for as many fonts as you need.

Thanks quiz. I was thinking about something like that but it seemed like there should be a easier way. If I do not get another way soon I will just have to use that method.

And thank you for the great tip. I am only adding in uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols. I saw the other languages which made the # of characters HUGE.

You can get the points quiz. It even works out because I wasn't thinking of the fact that I will have to create different text fields for each font anyway for thier preview. So that will work perfectly.
