We use an IMAP and SMTP server with Outlook 2003 as an simple email system. For overseas staffm they download emails via POP3. Everyday the overseas staff recieve a Excel report via email.

Occassionally the Excel report (email attachment) turns up as a winmail.dat file. Other staff have no such problems - only the overseas staff.  All outgoing emails are sent as HTML, and the overseas staff is able to recieve HTML coded emails. The size of the Excel 2003 file is only 2MB.

Has anyone encountered this intermitten email problem before? Any resolutions to try?

Hello artradis,

Are the sending email clients MS Outlook?  Are the receiving email clients MS Outlook?  If sending in MS Outlook, and not receiving in MS Outlook, attachment can appear as dat file.

Extract Files from Winmail.dat

Hope this helps!
