We have  a single laptop which uses outlook 2007 On XP Pro SP2. It is completely stand alone ie no mail servers just internet mail. When we try to run outlook, we get an error message " Cannot open your default e-mail folders", and all we can do is close down. I have tried to open this in safe mode, by jolding the CTRL key down on starting outlook, and we get the same eror message.
I have also created a new profile which does start up OK, and gone through the import routine, which does seem to import the outlook.pst file, but the content seems to dissapear after displaying for a short while. We are desperate to get this operational. |does ayone have any ideas what to do?

Sounds like a bad profile.

You should delete the profile from the mail icon in the control panel and then recreate.

Have you tried to run a Office repair?

thankyou for your help. we cleared all of the profiles again, and created a new one, imported the data and setup the mail boxes again, and it is now working fine. not sure why this did not work the first time, but all is fine now!
