I am pulling a movie clip form the the library using empty movie clip. Within this movie clip I have button to close the window ( really to remove the movie clip from the stage ). I believe I am having a hierarchy problem.

This actionscript is on the maintime line. The close btn instance is within the movie clip that is being pulled onto the stage.

put this in frame 1 of your popup.
substitute 'btn' with the name of your button
btn.onRelease = function(){

	trace(this)

	trace(_parent)

	trace(this._parent)

	this._parent.swapDepths(1);

	this._parent.removeMovieClip()

}
