Can I plug a T1 (from the demarc "smartbox", currently using rj45 cable) into an SSG5?  Or do I need to use the SSG20 with the CSU/DSU card....or a similar router with a CSU/DSU?

Thanks in advance.

You need the SSG20 with the T1 interface card. The SSG5 can only handle ad dial-up connection either BRI ISDN or V92. Here's the data sheet;

And yes, you could use an external router as a gateway to get from T1 to Ethernet.

OK, right now it's T1 demarc - RJ45 - EdgeMarc 4500.  So this means that the EdgeMarc has a CSU/DSU built in?
