Due to a version upgrade of Sage SalesLogix I have had to remove MSDE and install SQL Express 2005. During the install of SQL Express it fails while configuring and setting up MSXML 6. Any Suggestions as why this is happening? This install is on a remote computer in India and it would be next to impossible to rebuild the OS as there is no local IT department for our company in the country.
I removed MSDE using Add and Remove programs. Removed the Microsoft SQL Server folder from the Program Files folder. I rebooted the computer before attempting the install of SQL Express.

Here is the setup log that was requested. I was unable to connect with the user until today.

Are you running the install as a Domain and Local Admin?

Is the MSXML 6 the original or SP1. If it has SP1 try removing it and then installing SQL.

Thank you for the suggestion. I was able to fix the problem by removing MSXML 6 SP 2 by removing it with Windows Installer Cleanup. Once that was removed SQL Express installed with no problem.
