I had a bad install of WSUS on a SBS 2003 R2 box so i tried re-installing it from the CD but i wasnt able to. Therefore, i manually removed it and deleted internal databases following this link. http://blogs.technet.com/sus/archive/2008/11/05/how-to-manually-remove-all-of-wsus.aspx

i was then able to get the install started but the install keeps failing on this line:

Error     MWUSSetup          MWUS Installation Failed (Error 0x00000643: Fatal error during installation.)

The full log is contained below. I have searched this forum, searched the registry and still had no luck. any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, this machine has SQL 2005 installed on it and sorry about the points but i need to get more...

If you are running an x86-based edition of Microsoft Windows Server 2003, use the following command line to remove Windows Internal Database from the computer:

msiexec /x {CEB5780F-1A70-44A9-850F-DE6C4F6AA8FB} CALLERID=ocsetup.exe

If you are running an x64-based edition of Windows Server 2003, use the following command line to remove Windows Internal Database from the computer:

msiexec /x {BDD79957-5801-4A2D-B09E-852E7FA64D01} CALLERID=ocsetup.exe

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

I think the problem was that WSUS had updated itself to version 3.0 SP1 and even though i had completely removed it there must of been some something stlil hanging around that didnt like version 2.0 installed after 3.0 sp1 had been removed.
