Hello Experts,

Currently I am using Fireworks  CS4  and FontExpert 2007. (windows vista ultimate)

A year ago I had Fireworks CS3.  While Fireworks CS3 was opened I could activate fonts using FontExpert 2007 and it would be available immediately to use.

Since CS4  after activating a font I need to close Fireworks and the re-open it in order for the font to be available. Its very annoying during design process.

Can anyone help, suggest? I also should mention that when I had the CS3 It was an older computer.

Hi Refeal,

This problem is common to CS4, and across a variety of font management programs. I have the same problem at home with Extensis Suitcase for Windows, and at work with Adobe Type Manager Deluxe (also for Windows).

Flash has a similar problem (in fact I find it crashes if I try and open a document with a font which I activated after opening Flash).

There is nothing you can do to fix this problem at all - it is a problem Adobe has allowed to exist in their software. The best you can hope for is that Adobe make an update which addresses this problem, or potentially your font management software publisher may write a plugin which interfaces between your font management and the adobe software - there are several font management programs which required such plugins even for CS3 - Extensis Suitcase is one such example.

If I hear of anything in the near future (an update, etc) I will let you know, but at the moment I'm struggling through the problem also!

Hope that helps!

Hello Rafe,
Thank you so much for this information. I haven't sent a support to font-expert because  thought the problem is on my computer. So now that i have your information i have contact them and i will also search for alternative software. I have used Extensis Suitcase before but i did not like it because some functions are missing such as search fonts and worklist. Thank you again!
