How to reset Cisco switch 3550 password?

I've two sets of the above switches. This is supposed to be historical kind of managemnt, I can't get the password from my ex-colleague, co-workers, bosses.

How to reset the password so that I can access to the switch? Will reset password reset the startup config to the default settings?
