Hi....
I'm trying to run a Joomla installation on a hosted server.
The root folder will never have read/write permissions.
This requires me to install it in a subfolder which I do have full control of.

The problem lies with a single line php redirect.
it redirects fine, but then puts the subfolder in the address bar, which I don't want.

so, if someone types http://www.cutlerplace.com
the redirect puts out http://www.cutlerplace.com/joomla

how do I stop that?
Thanks

Hello,

You can do it with .htaccess redirect method.

Using .htaccess for Redirection:

When using the Apache web server, directory-specific .htaccess files (as well as apache's main configuration files) can be used. For example, to redirect a single page:

Redirect 301 /oldpage.html http://www.example.com/newpage.html

To change domain names:

RewriteEngine On

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.*oldwebsite\.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.preferredwebsite.net/$1 [R=301,L]

You can also do it:

create a sub domain in your domain and paste all the contents from joomla there.

Then go the sub domain .

Regards.

It's a windows-based server.
of your solutions...the only one that appears to work is the subdomain solution.

Thanks much :)
