I have successfully installed PHPBB3 as my sites forum. However I would like to cherry pick a few stats and place them on my main site homepage (users registered, users online, total threads, total posts etc) and also place a forum login on my main homepage.

Easily done. Define a db connection in DW to the phpbb3 database for your main site. Create a recordset for each of the stats and insert the data into your main site's web pages.

Do you have DW skills to do that or do you need instructions for creating the recordsets and displaying the data?

I am quite new to web design. My HTML is pretty good and I'm learning PHP as I go. I've been using Expression for this site and manually adding/editing code. I've started to use mySQL for the first time, have a database setup for the PHPBB3 DB.

I could do with instructions on how implement this.

I should note I do have DW installed and ready, should I need to use it over expression.

Thanks,

Then basically you need to read a few tutorials on using PHP to connect to a database, writing a query and getting a result, then displaying the result in a webpage. Teaching you the requisite knowledge and skills to do what you want is an unreasonable expectation.

If you want to learn PHP properly, start with a book that'll get you informed in a consistent manner. The PDF version of Kevin Yank's "Build Your Own Database Driven Website Using PHP & MySQL" is only $29.95. It's a keeper.
