Outlook 2007 getting 80040115 error - message stuck in outbox

I have a remote user that is unable to send an email with a PDF attachment.  The attachment is under 1MB and our limit is set to 10MB so I don't think that is the problem.  The user has tried connecting via https and connecting through the VPN, both result in the same error.  I have tried shutting down Outlook (and verifying that it is stopped in Task manager), recycling IS, and then starting outlook again with the same results.

I did see that article, but I am not running and ISA server.  Should I still try to install the hotfix on my exchange server?

no the patch is for ISA,

How is the remote user accessing Exchange?
are they using outlook 2007? (appears so from the post tag)
Does this work internally? eg.. can a normal user send a 1mb file out ?

If they remove the stuck mail from the outbox can they send regular email to the same address? verify please.

It could also be a local setting, however, by default outlook doesn't block pdf files so it could be anti-spam/anti-virus as well.

Outlook 2007
The user is remote, so I can't test him internally.
Other users send PDF's and other files larger than 1MB without issue.
If they remove the stuck email, oither messages go out.
Anti-spam is not locally installed, it is at the gateway
AV checks inbound email only.

No, its any PDF.  In fact I just ran some more tests with him and it appears to be any attachment.  We also tried sending to both internal and external recipients with the same result.

You might try deleting his outlook profile and let Exchange rebuild it.

Is he able to send attachments from a different computer? If so, then I would remove Outlook as well as any registry settings associated with Outlook and then re-install Outlook.

I tried reinstalling Outlook, then the entire Office 2007 suite.  There were some other quirky things going on.  Long story short, we re-imaged the laptoo and all is well.  Safe to say it was not a server based issue.
