I have site in which  that I am installing just Windows 2008 RODC. it will receive replication from other site.
I haven't installed windows 2008 before.
I wonder if:

when installing RODC will ask for the DNS name from other site.
Can I create zones in DNS that is installed in RODC that don't replicate to other DNS in other site?

Thanks

It has to be a domain member before it can be a domain controller, so yes it will need that first.

It's copy of the DNS zone will be read only. Nothing replicates from a RODC.

I believe you can still create Standard Primary zones, the Read Only flag only effects zones stored in Active Direcotry.

Why would you want to create a zone anyway?
