Hi,

I have just moved offices and I host my own emails, when I logged onto my DNS Managment Console to enter my new IP address it will not allow this, giving me an error that IP addresses cannot be entered only Hostnames..

Anyone any Ideas..??

Regards

Darren.

Hi,

Probably depends on your registrar, but what was it before?

From whatyou say, I would guess that it is currently showing as the old IP address, yet it won't allow you to enter an IP address?

If so, I would call the registrar and ask what gives??

If it is showing a host name already, then you likely need to 'resolve' down the chain, and change the IP address (A record) for that host name.

Does that help?

Yes,
Thank you, I created a A record with the new IP address and then changed the MX record to mail.mydomain.com

Thanks
