how to install add-on font to gimp fonts

hi all,
my manager wants me to use external font in gimp to make some typo
I got the .ttf font but I don't know how to install it can you please tell me how to do it in details

Using Windows?, i think Gimp goes taking the Fonts in the windows Fonts folder, to add osme just copy them in the font folder.

I'm asking a bout Centos linux flavor not windows
